The kid's name is Alchemy and he can turn base metals into gold!  That's why the avaricious English Trolls have kidnaped him.  Now it's up to X-Factor to free Alchemy -- at all costs!

Thomas Jones is doing his chemistry homework, unkowingly using his mutant powers to change his pen into each element he is studying. Called to dinner, a troll enters his room and observes the pen, continuing to look through his things. After dinner, he is kidnapped by the troll for his abilities to turn things into gold, leaving his mother confused.

At X-Factor's basem the New Mutants are training with X-Factor, and Boom Boom nearly explodes one of her time bombs in the ship, as Warren and Jean talk. They are called by Mrs. Jones, who is requesting their help in finding Thomas, and X-Factor leaves, taking baby Christopher with them. They arrive in London and find the area they store their gold, and are attacked by the trolls.

Defeated, they are chained up, when Jean realizes that the baby is missing.
